Diabetes type 1 is an auto immune disease where the body does not produce insulin needed to control sugar level in blood.

Diabetes type 2 is a chronic metabolic disease where insulin is either not produced properly or not properly absorbed in the body.

Most common symptoms of diabetes are: increased urine output, excessive thirst, fatigue, itching skin, increased susceptibility to infections. On the long term, diabetes can lead to blindness, kidney failure, nerves damage or cardiovascular diseases.

Physical activity, healthy weight and diet and abstinence of smoking are the most important factors in preventing type 2 diabetes.
